Affected by a new round of strong cold wave weather, northern Japan and coastal areas of the Sea of Japan are experiencing continuous heavy snowfall. According to a report by the Japan Broadcasting Corporation Television on the 23rd, as of 16:00 local time, the snow depth in many areas of Aomori Prefecture, Niigata Prefecture, Yamagata Prefecture, and Fukushima Prefecture has exceeded 3 meters, with some areas in Aomori Prefecture having snow depths exceeding 5 meters.
The thick snow has brought great inconvenience to the lives of local residents. Residents of Shiga Prefecture are complaining one after another. One resident said, "There has been a lot of snowfall this year, and I think it's more than usual." Another resident helplessly said, "The snow accumulation is increasing by 20 centimeters every day, and I have to come out every day to shovel snow this week
The Japan Meteorological Agency is also closely monitoring the weather conditions. According to its statement, due to the distribution of winter air pressure and strong cold air, snowfall in most areas along the Sea of Japan coast in Honshu Island, Japan will continue to increase. Moreover, parts of central Kinki and Shikoku may also face heavy snow weather. In view of this, the Meteorological Agency calls on local residents to pay attention to the impact of heavy snow on transportation, and to be cautious of disasters such as avalanches to ensure their own safety.
