On March 13th, local time, US President Donald Trump threatened to bring down the Russian economy if Russian President Putin refused the 30 day ceasefire agreement that Ukraine had already agreed to.
Trump said that if Russia refuses to cease fire, the consequences will be "very serious," but he insists that he does not believe things will develop to that extent.
Previously, it was reported that Putin is unlikely to accept any agreement that could slow down the momentum of his military on the battlefield.
When asked by reporters if he was putting pressure on Putin to reach an agreement, Trump said, "Yes." "Some things may not be pleasant from an economic perspective." "I can do something very detrimental to Russia economically, which is destructive for Russia. But I don't want to do it because I want peace
As you know, I have always said that Ukraine may be the more difficult side to deal with. Trump had previously threatened to impose large-scale economic sanctions on Russia to punish Russia for its long-range bombings of Ukrainian cities.
Ukrainian President Zelensky stated at a press conference on Wednesday that Ukraine is willing to accept the United States' proposal to immediately implement a 30 day temporary ceasefire in order to demonstrate Ukraine's support for ending the conflict. He also stated that he has no "trust" in Russia and that achieving true peace requires pressure on Russia.
He also stated that Ukraine will not recognize any territory occupied by Russia as belonging to Russia, which is Ukraine's red line.
On Wednesday evening, British Defense Secretary John Healy also urged Putin to "accept a ceasefire". Hili addressed Putin at the Paris Defense and Security Forum, saying, 'Now it's your turn. You said you wanted to negotiate, so prove it. Accept the ceasefire, start negotiations, and end the war.'.
