On December 10th, the "34th Public Welfare Fund Million Walk" organized by the Macau Daily Readers' Public Welfare Foundation was grandly held in Macau, with nearly 50000 Macau citizens actively participating and taking steps towards charity. The event raised over 17 million Macau dollars in donations.
At 10 o'clock in the morning, the cheerful sound of gongs and drums and the lively opening of traditional lion dance performance added a festive atmosphere to the event. A walking procession from various social organizations, schools, government departments of the Macao Special Administrative Region, and central agencies stationed in Macao set off in an orderly manner from the Guanyin Lotus Garden and headed towards the A-Ma Temple, covering a total distance of about 4 kilometers.
Along the way, the lion dances and jumps, cheering and encouraging the team. The Police Silver Band, Scout Association Band, and more than 10 high school bands played their own distinctive music, with passionate melodies echoing in the air, making the progress of the charity team more powerful. The scene was spectacular and lively.
It is worth mentioning that Olympic gold medalists Li Ning, Guo Jingjing, Wu Minxia, Li Xiaopeng, Li Shanshan, Han Xiaopeng, and others were also invited to participate in this charity event. They joined the parade team and walked forward with the citizens, attracting a lot of attention and adding more positive energy to the event.
The organizer of the event and the president of the Macau Daily Readers' Public Welfare Foundation, He Dingyi, stated that after the Typhoon Hato, the foundation quickly allocated over 10 million yuan in donations to multiple organizations to help the affected groups alleviate their urgent needs. This year's Million dollar Campaign has seen an increase in both the number of participants and the amount of donations raised compared to previous years, fully demonstrating the enthusiasm and love of Macau citizens for charitable causes.
